We do this every.single.night. I know the books say it's wrong. I know the bumpies say it's wrong. But, it's oh-so-easy to get him to sleep with a warm bottle and some mommy/daddy snuggles while we rock. In fact, we've never had an issue with getting him to go to bed. Does anyone else break the rules by doing this too? Am I in big trouble with future Miles and bedtime with this current routine we have going?
Re: Feeding/Rocking to sleep...
We sometimes feed to sleep. We rock to sleep for naps but at night it usually just takes a bottle and holding her, no rocking.
It works for us so fvck it. She's not the CIO kind. It just works her up to the point where she spits up.
No, I think you have it right with putting her in her crib drowsy but awake. We knock Miles out cold by rocking him and feeding him until he's fast asleep before even attempting to put him in his crib.

Rules what rules lol! This is the way it is with K, I don't care it works and we are both happy plus I love our snuggles
If it works, it works. YOu may have to address it later, but you may not.
I would happily nurse M to sleep if it didnt' mean that I'd have to do it every 2 hours throughout the night. So we will re-Ferber once she's over her general anesthetic and MRI experience from monday. It's as much to remind her she can fall asleep on her own (she is absolutely capable, but wants to feed to sleep), adn to try and get longer stretches again, that we lost when we went on vacation.
Whatever works! If that's working for you, go for it! The only way to get my LO to sleep in her crib is to put down awake and let her cry for a few minutes. Period, end of story. I wish I could snuggle her and feed her to sleep and put her in her crib, the crying breaks my heart! Every baby is different though.
We pretty much do this. We give him a bottle in his rocking chair in his room with the light out and sound machine on, and a binky ready for when the bottle was finished. We used to make sure he was sound asleep before daring to attempt to move him to the crib, and pray really hard we wouldn't wake him in the move. Now we put him down whether he's asleep or not. Usually he's pretty much out, but still awake enough to know what's going on.
As has been said, I'd do this every night forever so long as he doesn't have sleep issues in the middle of the night. We're working on breaking him of his middle-of-the-night bottle, and I think it's working (I'm honestly scared to think it or type it, lol, for fear of jinxing myself). The past 3 nights I have heard him wake up at 12 and 3, but he has been able to put himself back to sleep.
From what I've read and experienced, it's only a problem if LO then needs you to do that every time he/she wakes up. We've been doing some Ferber when LO doesn't fall asleep right after nursing and for naps and it seems to be helping her stay asleep at night, etc. However, I still nurse her before bed and she often falls asleep or is teetering on the brink. This is totally fine with me. However, when she wakes up an hour later, I'm no longer going back in to nurse her. I'll either pat or do check-ins so that she's learning how to go back to sleep without nursing/rocking.
Hope that makes sense. If you're all getting enough sleep then it's NBD!

griffin usually falls asleep with his bedtime bottle and if he doesnt then we rock him to sleep (as we still do for naps ). yea, it could be a bad habit to break later but its the easiest for us too.
DHs cousin still has to rock her 3 year old to bed (i think he may be turning 4 this year). i CANNOT do that as griffin is already 22lbs and its killing my back. ill work on that later though lol.
I do it because it is really the only time I get to spend with B Monday through Friday. So fvck the books. I'm cuddling with my baby.
If he doesn't fall asleep, and I've been up in his nursery with him rocking for a while, I'll put him down in his crib, give him the soothie and put on his music box. He always, always falls dead asleep within 5 minutes. So, since he can put himself to sleep just fine if needed, I'm rocking and feeding him to sleep all I want.
