Breastfeeding

BF/Pumping and Work

I am lucky in that I can bring my LO to work with me. I work in a very small office so I will be making my office into a small nursery. I am currenly Breastfeeding and pumping (however for some reason my supply has gone down the past few days, Im working on that!) I want to feed baby out of a bottle while at work so I wont be behind closed doors all afternoon nursing. I am trying to figure out a schedule to pump and feed without it taking an hour to do both. I assume if I only feed from a bottle while at work my supply with deminish if I dont pump or bf (that would be 8 hrs with out pumping or bfing). Do you girls have an idea of a schedule that I could follow. Also I have only been pumping for about 10 minutes, how long do you girls pump?

Re: BF/Pumping and Work

  • sounds like  a lot of hassle when you could just nurse your baby, I have nursed my daughter hands free and  discreetly in my sling many times, I even type while doing it. If you had a few nice nursing tanks and a sling  you could learn to nurse very easily without 'exposing' yourself or locking the door all day long!

  • I pump until milk stops coming out + a few more minutes.

In your case, I'd rather nurse than to take the time to pump and then bottle feed.  Seems like the pumping (which I assume you'd do with your door closed) would defeat the purpose of trying to feed LO and not be behind closed doors.

I'd rather nurse than pump...quicker and no clean up!!

This! Just nursing will be much faster. You'll have to close your door to pump. It takes me 30 minutes to set up, pump, and break down. Then you'd have to take another 10-15  minutes to nurse LO. Seems like way more work and time than jus nursing LO.

  • I nurse little one by propping her on a pillow and then cover with a aiden + anais blanket and work away while she eats. I don't even have to close the door to my office. everyone knows that I am breastfeeding and if they are uncomfortable then they just don't come into the office. It is much easier than pumping and bottle feeding although, I will start pumping next week because LO will be in daycare :(
