I know toddlers really resist diaper changes but I didn't think we'd already have this much trouble! LO squirms & flips over & cries if we try to change her diaper! It's to the point where I just had to change her while she was in a crawl position!
We have tried distraction (I even let her play with my cell phone) and that worked for a few weeks, but now she's wised up & wants to flip over the second I put her on her back.
Any tips? At this point I'm going to get REALLY good at the backwards diapering technique...

Re: I really didn't think this would be such an issue already!
Duct Tape? Bungee Cords? Ratchet Strap?
You forgot heavy-duty staple gun.
Damn! Good Looking out!
yup this is what I'm doing, works pretty well. Just kidding. For real though diaper changes are hit & miss. He's obsessed with these hanging picture things hanging above the table & turns to try & look at them and arches his back. sucks
When DD1 started doing this, I found that changing her on the floor was easier. I sat next to her, and put one leg over her stomach...thereby pinning her to the ground. Its not nice, but it gets the job done SO much faster.
Good luck! DD1 didnt outgrow this until 18 months or so...
We have one of these contoured changing tables in his room and I use the strap in there. Otherwise, I change him on the floor and give him whatever object is closest to us at the time. If he rolls or tries to get up, I just continue to put him on his back. Eventually he'll learn that he has to stay on his back during diaper changes.

This. (Although we started on teh floor with M, it was just easier. You'll get better at the lightening quick changes though!
This is also why I started standing up diaper changes as soon as DS was standing up on his own - he liked that much, much better.
Evie is too! In addition to rolling over, she now stries to stand up and grab various diaper supplies from the top of the dresser. I've tried putting toys up there but she always goes for the butt paste or the bulb syringe.

You're not alone...DD needs to be occupied throughout the whole diaper change, otherwise she will fight me to the end!
I now give her new objects that she normally doesn't get...like, a clean diaper to hold, the bottle cover, a knife (hehe jk). You get the point.
