Are you maybe buying the "cheap" paper towels that have only 100 or so sheets on the roll?
We buy the big Bounty rolls at Costco and change it every 2 weeks or so. But I do keep several towels in the kitchen and use those to wipe my hands dry after doing dishes or washing my hands.
I do, but I don't use very many dishcloths or anything like that for counter and table clean up. I use paper towels for EVERYTHING!! lol

PAL/PGAL welcome
I haven't bought papertowels in 3yrs. We had about 10 rolls in a big pack- when i bought the bar mops- i still have a roll or two left downstairs- (in 3yrs)
I feel like we go through them very fast too!! I use cloth dish towel to dry my hands after washing but use paper towels for everything else. Bad habit I know!

Those look great.
I took about 15 washcloths from the showers at work one day a couple of years ago, and we use those, but they are getting old. I really only use paper towels to clean fingerprints off windows. Nothing else seems to work.
Yes, we use paper towels like they are going out of style! And I try to buy the good ones, or the "double rolls" but it doesn't seem to matter. I use them for everything from cleaning, drying hands and wiping up a messy baby face.
We did a few years ago, then I started to feel really guilty about it. Now we keep a basket with a pile of folded bar mops (for kitchen counters) and washcloths (for the kids hands and faces) on the counter. I have a canvas bag hanging on the basement door in the kitchen, and toss used ones in there several times a day. I wash them every few days. We still use paper towels, but only have to replace the roll a few times a month as opposed to several times a week like we used to.
On our way to 3 under 4!

Here's a moment when I actually feel very *green*! We use a lot of rags for daily things. When I do my big deep cleaning every week or two (or sometimes 3, who am I kidding here?) I use the paper towels because I just don't have enough rags and sometimes they don't quite get everything or get too dirty too quickly and I have more to clean.

I switched to bar mops about two years ago and haven't looked back - I was going through a roll a day, too - It was a really easy adjustment.
I bought about 30 rags. I use them for everything - hand-washing, counter-cleaning, deep-cleaning, etc. I keep a canvas bag on a hook next to the washer and throw them in there when they are dirty and then just wash the whole bag and the rags in it either with my wipes or about every 3 days so any damp ones don't start to stink.
I do buy a pack of napkins once a month to have on hand. Doing my part to save the planet and saving tons of money.

I used to be that way and then I switched to dish towels. I have a bunch of them, and just use 2 or 3 everyday for wiping up little stuff. I really only use paper towels to clean my baby's hands after he eats and I just get it damp and then do that. Ok, actually I use them for windexing too, but that is only every couple of days.
Try using dish towels or rags. I just keep a huge bin of them, clean, in the kitchen and grab them as needed and them wash a pile a couple times a week. Cheaper and better for the environment.... and usually more effective too.

This exactly. I realized how much I was spending on paper towels and paper napkins and just stopped buying them. I do buy one cheap roll of paper towels every now and then to have on hand for cleaning up raw chicken juice becaue for some reason I cannot bring myself to use my towels for that if I happen to spill. Anyway, I save a lot of money because of that. Now, if I could just find a good, working solution for toilet paper

another vote for bar mops and dish rags Works great! I keep the dirty ones in a bucket by the washing machine and wash as needed. I seriously use them for everything now! I bought a huge 70 pack from Costco for around $20 so I always have plenty.
We do keep paper towels because I'm having a hard time completely converting my DH, and his parents will only use them...but we go through a roll maybe once every other week, maybe.
