Pregnant after a Loss

any Q's for a new mom?

Little Avery is sleeping at the moment (fingers crossed that she stays calm for a while!) so I have a few free minutes. I had an all natural birth, planned to BF but my milk never came in so I started FF at 11 days. You can ask me anything!

Re: any Q's for a new mom?

  • *raises hand*  This is so much more real to me than I ever thought it could be.  I used to read the questions for new moms posts for entertainment.  Now I scour them for every detail I can get!!

    1.  How has your relationship with your DH changed since the baby was born?

    2.  What "stuff" did you get that you have found is useless?

    3.  Honestly, how bad is the delivery/recovery?

    4.  Does the uncertainty and scared feeling of having SAL get better when the baby's on the outside?

    5.  Did the dr have any reasons for why your milk never came in?

  • 1. The first week was a definite adjustment. Everything was so overwhelming and I felt very disconnected from DH. But we've gotten into the groove of things and I am more in love with him now than ever before.

    2. I wish I hadn't gotten so many gender neutral clothes. As soon as everyone found out she was a girl the gifts started coming in by the dozens!! And of course I'd rather dress her in pink than yellow or green! Honestly I probably didn't need to buy any clothes or blankets. We have gotten SO many gifts! ?Other than that, everything else has seemed pretty useful so far.?

    3. My birth story is in my blog. I went all natural. It was hard but it was absolutely incredible. The recovery was tough for the first week but I'm pretty much all recovered now. I was lucky and didn't tear at all.

    4. Definitely yes, but I do still worry all the time. I think that's part of being a mom. :)

    5. I have my post-partum appointment on the 30th so I will ask then. I've been too busy to follow up with it yet.?

  • I am considering a natural delivery as well, but I am worried about the pain.  I know that it is bad....very bad and that the pain is for a reason.  Is it really that bad?

Would you do it natural again?

  • Honestly it was the most painful thing I've ever experienced, more than I could have imagined. But I can't even tell you how glad I am that I followed through and did it. Now I know I can do anything! It really was an empowering experience.

My whole birth story is in my blog. My biggest recommendation is to make sure your DH and your OB/MW are ready to FULLY support you. There is absolutely no way I could have made it through without both of them coaching me.

Would I do it again? No time soon! I think I'll have to make that decision when I become pregnant again.?

  • Yes, I want to know:

    1)  How are you both adjusting to the formula feeding?  (I know that was such a hard situation and decision, and I just want to say again how strongly I felt for you and support you in that.)

    2) How do you look so fabulous with such a tiny baby??? Wink

  • 1. FF is going a lot better than BF was for us. Avery is still spitting up and throwing up at times so we are playing around with amounts and stuff but overall we are all doing much better! I never looked back once.

    2. ha!!! I just had a total meltdown earlier today because NONE of my clothes fit. All my pregnancy clothes are summery and now that it is getting cold here in New England I seriously have NOTHING to wear. I was just crying to DH that I want my old body back. But thank you!?
