We thought we had it down to 2 each but that's not the case! So here are our name lists - and I know many people don't like the trendy names, but these are the names H and I can agree on so far. We don't like names that have an easy nickname attached, so we tend to gravitate to shorter names.
Girls: (middle name will be Jean or Dawn both family names)
Blair
Brielle
Brenna - this is my favorite
Audrey
Camryn
Kendra
Laney
Boys: middle name will be Joel (family name)
Caleb
Corbin - if I had to pick now for certain, I would pick this one
Owen
Evan
Re: Our name list as of now
I love Owen. (It's DS's name.)
None of the girl names really work for me, but I'd def. not use Blair or Kendra. Laney is a cute nickname, but I wouldn't use it alone.
Why do you say definitely not Blair or Kendra? Associations or you don't like the name? I know a lot of people don't have similar naming styles but what I'm looking for is things like an association I might not think of, or alliteration that I can't quite see. For example, the Annalisa name thing people talk about - how it sounds like anal, etc. That's what I'm trying to avoid by asking opinions. It's hard sometimes when I have a list to step back so that's why I'm wanting more details - thanks!
And we aren't fond of names that have obvious nicknames - like Will for William. While it's a nice name, it's just not our style so that's why Laney would likely be a stand alone name for us.
We like Brenna the most but something keeps drawing me back to Audrey and Blair. I think Audrey in particular is timeless, something about it just says classic to me and I like that. It's obviously feminine and something about it just keeps drawing me to it. I like Brenna Jean but the BJ initials are something I probably want to stay away from - I have a gutter brain though lol, so others might not think of that but I'm trying to think of obvious ways kids would tease and trying to avoid as much as possible from that perspective.
And I agree on Owen Joel, but our other DS has H's first name as his middle name so I'd like this one if it's a boy to have H's middle name as his middle name but it's so short it makes it hard since we like shorter first names. I might have to go another route and use a middle name from my side of the family which is fine with H he doesn't care either way. I need to make a list of other possible nicknames.
I love the name Audrey and think it goes well with either middle name. Laney is cute, but a little too cute on it's own. IMO, it needs a more formal name for the future. I like Blair but not with either middle name, the flow is too short and choppy. Brielle and Brenna are okay, but I would definitely stay away the initials BJ. Kendra and Camryn are too trendy for my liking.
For boys, I love Caleb, Owen and Evan. Corbin is a local fuel company around here and just screams last name to me.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I like Brenna and Audrey on your girl list. I think Camryn is terrible, sorry.
For the boys, I guess Corbin, but I like Joel better than any of the fns.
I like Audrey and Brenna (works fine as an adult ) and I think using Dawn as a middle name would be a smart thing to avoid the BJ initials. I'm all for using family names.
For boys the only one I think I feel strongly about is Caleb. I don't like it at all. The others are nice safe choices, but I like the sound of Evan Joel the best out of those 3.

Ha, love it - do you like your name? It isn't super common or trendy IMO but I like it - it fits our style and I think it's what I'm going to put in my #1 spot. I'm okay with people not liking it b/c it isn't their style - I don't agree with a lot of names on here but that's what makes the world turn - thank goodness we aren't all clones of one another! And I love your daughter's name - but that's the name of one of our friend's daughters so it's out. Evan Joel is H's fave so that's being pushed up to the top of the list slowly haha. My mom isn't wild about Corbin, and DS can't say it without sounding like Corn so that might knock it off the list too.
I really like:
Brenna Jean
Kendra Jean
Corbin Joel
Evan Joel
I do like my name. It was annoying sometimes as a kid when people would see it and read Brenda, despite not having a d in there, but that still happens and I just correct them. Once I got to college I learned to appreciate having something uncommon because I had a very common last name. I didn't get teased for it and never had to deal with people thinking it was weird. The worst would be to hear someone had never heard of it, but it is a bit more popular now than in the 80's. And as my cousin Siobhan likes to point out, it might have been different but at least it was spelled the way it sounds, lol.

Brenna is my top girls' name! I love it! It's so pretty and crisp and simple. I know a lot of other people on here weren't too crazy about it tho. I don't care! It's beautiful.
Corbin isn't really my taste, but I have to put a vote in for Evan since it's my brother's name.
