Okay ladies...
are there names that you loved and considered naming your LO until you met someone with that name and they ruined it?
We loved Miles...then we had a Miles on DS's bball team and he was so unmotivated and never gave effort and then he wondered why he didnt get to start...he made us not like the name
Re: because of you...I hate that name now
Oh yes.
I used to work at a summer camp and had a pre-teen in one of the camps named Noah who was downright mean. I refuse to use that name now.
I also liked the names Christine/Christina, Shelby, and a few other girl names that I won't use because of people I've known that I wasn't fond of.
Unfortunately, YES!
I love the name Max/Maxwell but we can't use it because of a family member who was extremely rude & hurtful to a lot of people in our immediate family. Also, can't use Andrew because it was my ex-boyfriends name and he certainly isn't someone I'd like to be reminded of lol!
I used to like the name Allison until I took one on a field trip. She was the biggest Whiny brat and I wanted to punch her. Ruined the name forever. As a teacher, there are a few names destroyed forever!!
And FWIW, I know 2 MIles and both are cute spunky little boys full of energy!!

Anthony, Antonio, Theodore, Kayla, Steven, and Rashida are all out of the question for me now as they are the names of former students who were over-the-top rude or just annoying. I never really cared for Kayla or Steven anyway, but still, ugh.
I'm pretty pissed about Anthony as that's a recent development. I used to love that name. I still may overlook him and use it as a middle name.
I had roommate drama back when I lived with four other people, and I can't hear those names now without a cringe (especially Travis).
Sydney will always be the girl in second grade who picked her nose, Vera will always be the mean teacher who made fun of her students during class, and Katrina will always be the crazy woman who practically stalked our family.

I worked in childcare for years. There are names I would NEVER use (Alexa=naughty brat to me), but there was the sweetest little girl named Camryn and if I had a daughter I would love if she was like her. But I do tend to picture her anytime I hear that name.

My brother's two-timing, STD-ridden ex-girlfriend's name is Jennifer.
I liked the name Guinevere, but I did some research and discovered that it's a derivitive of Jennifer. I instantly couldn't think of it the same way....
and that's not even the same name! That's how much I can't stand that skank Jennifer.
I haven't worked in childcare for long, but I have helped with church nurseries for years, too. I can't think of any names that immediately have bad connotations except Donovan (which I probably wouldn't have used anyway), but my love for DD's name started with a little girl at church with that name. I was her favorite volunteer and she would randomly run at me from across the room to give me huge hugs. I don't think of her all the time with DD, but every once in awhile I remember her fondly.
Jennifer and Lila. I worked with two ladies that ruined these names forever. Jennifer is the most hateful, racist lady I've ever met who goes out of her way to demean and sabotage other people that we work with. I have no idea why she hasn't been fired for her downright meanness (we work in a Christian company, where you would think her behavior would not be tolerated. But our boss is a wimp when it comes to confrontation.)
Lila is so lazy she's basically killing herself. She is in her mid-thirties, has diabetes brought on by obesity, has heart/lung problems, but STILL continues to eat McD's for breakfast and lunch, and eats half a thing of Krispy Kremes for "snack." She was complaining about how her doctor wants her to exercise, but she won't even walk 3 feet to the fax machine. She even wears a wig because she is losing her hair due to her poor health. All she wants to do is get on disability so she won't have to work anymore, but considering how young she is, she's being turned down. My step-SIL named her baby Lila Rose (ironically, Lila's last name is Rose) and I instantly thought "oh, no!" But hopefully HER Lila won't have such extreme health problems.
Timothy. It's such a nice, strong name that's not so widely used that you're sick of it but it's still common enough that you recognize it. I loved the nn Tim and Timmy.
Then I dated one for three years and he ruined lots of things for me, the least of which - his name.
Sidebar- he cheated on me, knocked up his baby momma and named the kid after a cat he had when he was a kid. WHAT WAS I DOING WITH HIM??
