Breast milk storage

I am having problems with the Lansinoh bags coming out of the freezer with holes, which means I am loosing milk.  How do you freeze your breast milk?

Re: Breast milk storage

  • Anytime I put more than 5 ounces in those bags, they leak. I always defrost in a clean tupperware or glass. Besides buying hundreds of bottles, I don't know of any other way. The Medela bags seem to be worse. I had a 500+ oz stash so that was the best option.

  • I used Lansinoh bags too and never had a problem.  I put the bags of frozen milk in a big ziploc bag for storage.

ETA:  Just to clarify, I froze them flat first and then added them to the ziploc bag .

  • Make sure you freeze them flat with nothing else touching the bag. Don't stack them on top of each other until completely frozen.
  • I use Lansinoh and have never had a problem except for a couple of holes. Never put more than 5 oz in at a time, freeze flat, and thaw in another container so if it leaks you can still use it!

  • I never had that problem, could you be overfilling them?  Are you laying them flat on their side?

  • You might want to give the gerber bags a try, they are a little thicker.
