Good RE in NYC??

Hello Everyone!

I was just diagnosed with PCOS and I'm looking for a good reproductive endocrinologist. My current ob/gyn thinks I should see another ob within the practice first who is comfortable prescribing fertility meds... but my gut tells me that I need to see a specialist.

Has anyone had any good experiences with any doctors in NYC?

 Thank you!

Yes! We went through IVF to get pregnant with DS. If you're looking to get pregnant, go to the Columbia Center for Women's Reproductive Care. I saw Dr. Michael Guarnaccia and had a great experience with the entire office.

I go to RMA of NY on Madison Avenue. I went on a referral from a friend & so far I am really happy with them.

I have PCOS, too, but I actually did not need fertility drugs. (And, knock on wood, have had a complication-free pregnancy so far.) Still, I agree that it is *really* important to have good doctors!

One of the books that I read on PCOS was written by an MD named Walter Futterweit. He really seems to know his stuff, and he is based in NYC. It might be worth contacting him.

I have PCOS, too, and Dr. Guarnaccia was great coming up with a protocol that worked for me. DH also has some morphology/motility issues, so we wound up going with IVF with ICSI. The entire experience at Columbia was great.

Another vote for RMA NYC. we had unexplained but DH had borderline issues. The place is pretty friendly. I was with Columbia first but did not like having to wait in a single and long line before work to pay my copay. referred to them by a relative who has twins via IVF. I only had to do IUI w gonal f shots.

Dr. Daniel Stein at Continuum Reproductive Center is wonderful. He is attentive, kind, thorough, no-nonsense, honest, and is quite a calming force. The office is well run and organized. My husband and I had an excellent experience there. We were quite lucky that our infertility issues were simple--we were able to become pregnant on the first try with the mildest of interventions. However, I have complete confidence that Dr. Stein would be wonderful for more complicated and long term treatment cases. The practice is associated with St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital.
