A few weeks ago, I read a post with links to lists of what babies actually need (a step above the bare essentials but definitely stripped of the bells and whistles). I've tried to find it (honestly, I did), but cannot. Does anyone have links to something like this? Or suggestions? I'm finalizing my registry and trying to keep it small and practical (well, except the Dr. Seuss and Eloise books on Amazon) and not request anything superfluous. TIA ladies! (Also, if that post wasn't even on this board but somewhere else, I apologize and feel like an assshat already.)
Every mom is different...but here were my must haves:
Car seat Place for baby to sleep/nap diapers/wipes I really liked the A&A swaddle blankets and the side snap tees. Those were all DS wore around the house for the first month. To go out and after the first month, he lived in the footed pajamas. Gerber makes some well priced ones! You will probably get a crapton of clothing at your shower and after baby is born.
1 nice baby sized blanket (someone will knit you one, I'm sure) for over the car seat and on the floor
A few types of pacifiers
A boppy isn't necessary, but it really is quite nice.
Nice to have
Sleep sheep A SnG stroller frame for the car seat a breast pump (use the bottles that come with the pump) a baby bath tub a few types of hats (though DS wore the hospital ones until he outgrew them) one of the sleep/rock/swing combos like this
lucie's list is a great reference! You'll see it mentioned daily. Even if you only want the essentials, try registering for several types of pacis and other small items that you will need as people will want some variety and price points for gifts. A few luxury items may be fun gifts to include as well (mustela bath products, good quality towels, etc)

There are many lists that you will find online and other place. I suggest these main items.
Must haves-
Car seat (can't go home from the hospital w/o it)
Place for baby to sleep
clothes
Diapers
Blankets (suggest 1 heavy 1 light)
feeding system (breast or bottle) If breast you are done
Burp cloths
way to clean baby can be tub or sink
Everything else fills the want list.
