How do you do it? I tried to feed Lila on the left and pump on the right for the first time this morning. Not quite a fail, but incredibly complicated! She feeds best in the cradle hold, so I had her on the boppy with my left arm holding her (normal position for us). Is there some other way I have to hold her? And how do you hold the baby, hold the pump, and work the pump at the same time? Am I missing something? The only thing that made it worthwhile is that I got 4 oz out of my slacker boob, which has never happened before.
Re: for those who feed and pump at the same time...
I'm sure there is an easier way to do it, but here's what I do:
Ex: nurse baby on right breast in cradle hold. I do not use a boppy, he is just laying on my lap. A pillow is helpful under his head, but typically my right arm is also supporting him. I have to have the pump on the floor. I turn the pump on before I attach the flange to my left breast. I am holding the flange with my left hand, while also resting the bottle in between his legs on my left side. He nurses and I pump at same time. If he finishes early, he's usually quite content to just cuddle. If not, I swing him around so his head is on my knees (feet @ my belly) and talk to him while I finish pumping. When I am done with the feeding & pumping, I typically shut the pump off with my toe
since my hands are full and he's in my lap.
