That's insane!

I think a few different things should occur here:

1) Make the penalty for drinking and driving (and KILLING A KID) longer than 6 months.

2) Consider a bus stop to be a "cross walk" or only allow buses to stop at cross walks to avoid people being charged with jaywalking.

3) SMACK the prosecutor who wants to throw a grieving mother in jail for SIX TIMES longer than the azzhole that killed her kid!

i think this happened here it atlanta and atlanta (metro) is not a pedestrian friendly area AT ALL. we frequently have apartment housing across from bus stops but not near lights or corners so people are constantly darting across the street and/or standing with children and strollers in the median on 4-lane highways.

this is a crazy, ridiculous conviction and she should be sentenced to minimum time or no time at all. hopefully all probation.
