As I posted the other day, my favorite aunt unexpectedly passed away Friday morning.
1) The body's physical reaction to grief...it's weird, I hate it and I now truly fear experiencing it again. I have never been that numb in my life. We have been so fortunate to keep so many loved ones around for so long....
2) Alzheimers utterly sucks...my grandma tends to forget so many things, with this she keeps forgetting and "remembering" it over and over. Only after a serious session of "Crazy 8" with me and mom did Grandma finally "forget" for awhile....we had some laughs and she even tried to cheat!
3) My mom is so strong.
4) DH is freaking awesome. It's like he saved up all his "helping out" for times like this.
5) No matter how annoyingly loud my kids are, I needed them home something awful Friday night (SIL took them for the day so we could notify family). I needed the slimy kisses, grimy hands, and neck breaking hugs that only my little terrors can give.
And for something light-hearted
6) DH and I did the Warrior Dash on Saturday. I wore my MN Vikings bands in memory of my aunt (she was a huge Vikings fan as well and wanted to come and watch us run). It was a much needed distraction for me and not only did I finish under my goal..... I beat DH by 2 minutes! He was pretty sure his competitiveness would overcome my training, lol.
Re: What I learned this weekend...
I'm so sorry for the loss of your Aunt.
And great job beating your DH!
From one mom of "little terrors"
to another... I love that you "...needed the slimy kisses, grimy hands, and neck breaking hugs that only (they) can give." Love it~~
Blessings & Comfort to you & your family~
Ditto, you brought tears to my eyes! Sending thoughts and prayers of peace for you and your family!
