My sister-in-law is being induced this evening and the baby is expected to arrive sometime tomorrow. This is her first child and my first niece.
I would like to take something when we go visit tomorrow, but I'm not sure what. I don't really remember what or if anyone brought us anything when we had DD - which is okay, I'm just not sure what is appropriate.
Also, I'm thinking something inexpensive.
Thanks for any tips! =]
Re: Visiting a First Time Mom in Hospital
I always like to bring flowers or have one of the edible arrangements with fruit delivered. Yum!
Something yummy to eat maybe!!! When I had DS I didn't eat for 2 days! I had to be on a liquid diet for a day after he was born due to medication I was on. Not to mention the hospital food is not always amazing.
I think some yummy bagels or muffins or something like that would be awesome. It is also not something that needs to be taken home (like flowers or other gifts).
Yep food.
I had a friend bring pizza and beer, soooooo good. A former roommate brought DH and I turkey sandwiches from their leftovers, way better than the hospital food. Does she have a favourite food or restaurant, or something she has been waiting to eat her entire pregnancy, sushi?
Oh, man, my friend got me one of those edible arrangements once. It was amazing! So delicious.

If you can think of something small that the new mom likes to eat, take that! My husband's boss actually visited me in the hospital the day after my daughter was born and brought me a pack of Reese's cups. May sound like nothing, but I was STARVING and so happy to get them. She also brought a congratulations-type balloon that was attached to a small stuffed animal for the baby.
It's really hard to judge, though, because you know her and we don't. Obviously don't take flowers if you know she has bad allergies or something.
