I just started pumping. How do I know when I am done? Do I wait until it looks like the milk has stopped pumping out or is there a maximum amount of time that you should pump?
I stop pumping when I've got enough milk to fill a bag or supply the feeding I need it to, when I run out of time, or when about 15-20 minutes has passed. I'm just pumping for occasional use, though. If you're exclusively pumping (EP) or pumping to increase supply, you need to be more rigorous.
If you pump longer, sometimes you can trigger another let down. So just because milk stops flowing doesn't mean you're done, if you need more.

I pump for 30mins. I realize I don't get much more after that point, but if I stop after 15mins, I get significantly less.
Plus, 30 mins is what my symphony is set at (it auto turns off after 30), so it allows me to zone out and let the machine tell me when it's done.
