If we take a bottle out of the refrigerator to warm it up, but LO falls asleep before starting it, how long is that bottle "good" for?  Does the 5(ish)-hour at room temperature rule still apply, or is it a totally different category now?

 

ETA: We warmed it in hot water.

LOL, I have the same question two posts below!  Hopefully we get an answer.  Did you warm it up or did you just set it out on the counter?  I believe that makes a difference.

I have no idea, but we finally (like at 6 mo) purchased a bottle warmer and that thing is great!  You can warm it up in 30 seconds and it does a much better job than warm water.  It might be a good investment, you can have the bottle ready when baby is still awake.

Unfortunately, the room temperature rule is only for when the milk has just been freshly pumped, before you've put it into the fridge.  After you take it out of the fridge and warm it up, it should really be used within an hour, maybe an hour and a half.  A lot of things now say that if baby doesn't finish it, you can put it back in the fridge and reheat it for the very next feeding, but only once (not over and over). Hope that helps!
