Food Allergy

Woman dies from an allergic reaction

That's why i don't trust ANY restaurant unless the chef comes out and talks to me.

I wonder if she had an epipen.

    OMG, How awful!

  • I don't eat out at all.

Well, OK, I do but only at 2 places--Chipotle (crispy tacos [corn] with carnitas, fajita veggies, and plain white rice; the fajita veggies are cooked in soybean oil but I am ok with that) and In-N-Out (french fries--they're fried in cottonseed oil).

I feel like no matter how safe I can be, the fact of the matter is I can't be in the kitchen watching the preparations going on. I will have no way of knowing if the chef made a pan-fried fish right next to my pasta sauce and some splashed into my pan... I'll have no way of knowing that they were using separate utensils, etc. My DH works at a restaurant, he loves food and going out to eat, and even HE says that he feels better with me just not eating. Yeah, I look like the party pooper, but I enjoy myself so much more when I can relax and enjoy the company of people without worrying that any bite I put in my mouth might kill me.
