prescription for pump

I have been researching my insurance company's policy for durable medical supplies (to help pay for a breast pump) and it says that there has to be a prescription.  If you got a prescription for your pump, did you ask for it or did the dr give it to you?  I am dairy free now and dd had bad reflux- could this be enough to ask the dr for a prescription for a pump?

Re: prescription for pump

  • I got my pump through my insurance also. I just called my Dr. and told her I needed a prescription for my insurance to cover it. She wrote it up and faxed it over to the medical supply place where I picked it up!

I would just call your Dr. and ask them to write one out.

Which Dr wrote yours?  ped?  ob/gyn?
