Massage for Inducing Labor?

I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow (I have been getting them monthly and they are wonderful.)  She said at my previous visit that we could do some massage that can bring labor on if I wanted.  I thought great but now the time is here and I am nervous to do anything.  I showed no progress at all (no dilation, effacement, etc) at my appt. today and my cervix is still pretty posterior.  So probably it would be a smart thing to do but I am nervous about it and not sure why. Huh?
Praying this little one sticks!

Re: Massage for Inducing Labor?

  • I think you should go for it! Why not?  I think they massage a spot above your ankle or something...  I am looking into doing acupuncture to see if that moves things along! Good luck!

  • People do much weirder and dangerous things than massage to try and induce.... I say go for it!

  • I got a foot massage and treatment done at a spa on Monday. (had a gift card and figured if I dont use it now, I never will!)

she did some accupressure on the spots on my legs and feet that suppsedly bring on labor.

It was my first night of significant crampy contractions this whole pregnancy. It did not progress into labor but I have had contractions everyday since then. i think it's like everything elsle. If your body is already doing it's thing- it could certainly help! If anything, you'll get nice and relaxed and be that much closer to labor...
