Where are my crafty ladies?

A couple questions.

1) Is anyone who crochets willing to make me some covers for my swiffer?

2) I already make our reusable paper towels but saw on pintrest (thanks OSC...) that someone puts snaps on theirs to keep them together as opposed to my messy pile of them. I've never added snaps so my question is-How difficult would it be to add them to the towels that I have already made? Is it something that can easily be added on at the end or should I just keep what I have and make new ones with snaps as I need them?

You were right. It IS addicting. I put both kids to sleep and hopped right on here to look at pinterest & the bump... I should be packing and showering before LO wakes back up. oops.

  • We use disposable paper towels as well.  I originally made them with snaps but didn't love it and it was a lot of work.  It's not hard work, it's just tedious.  You're cutting out one snap from the roll of snap tape and then sewing it on one corner then doing the same for the other.  I have mine folded like baby wipes and keep them under a horizontal kleenex box cover and they pull through just like wipes do.  It's great and doesn't take long at all to fold them.  I fold my cloth diaper wipes this way too, I just do it while watching TV or something so it's not like a time suck or anything.

Here's directions for folding baby wipe style:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUTPIY6dDgc

I made a few covers for my swiffer thing.  I bought microfiber towels in the automotive department at Costco (they have them at Walmart too) for less than $10.  Since they're rectangular I sewed elastic on all four corners so it fit over the head of the mop.  I always hated how the disposable ones would get bunchy if you tried to scrub at all and this eliminated that.  My whole house (3 floors) is hardwood with tile in the bathrooms and kitchen and I change out the cloth frequently while mopping so I used my whole pack of towels to make 10 covers.  They work great!

  • I can knit you some swiffer covers, I've made some for myself and like them quite a bit.  They're cheaper and HELLO cuter :D

I'll stick to the cloth towels without the snaps then. I need to get a basket or something to store them in. I do fold my cloth wipes but have never folded the towels. Thanks!

I use my older cloth towels for my swiffer now and like them but I want to see if the crocheted ones will work better on stuck on messes since it will be more textured.

I'd love for you to make some swiffer covers for me if you have the time. Just let me know how much would you like for them? And how would you like the payment to be done?

Serious reading comprehension fail on my part.  You were looking for someone to knit/crochet the swiffer cover, duh.  Aaaand, I meant "cloth" not disposable.  I should probably not bump while listening to MH talk to me about the Brewers.

as long as you don't need them right away because I have a lot of knitting on my plate right now (HA)  just let me know what color(s) you'd want and I can make some and send ya a pic and if you like them I'll just charge ya materials and shipping which I'm guessing would probably only be about 3 bucks for 1 and maybe an an extra dollar worth of yarn for each extra cover.
