I am just curious to hear what you all have to say about the events leading up to your LO starting to walk. Did they stand on their own first? Did they just cruise around furniture and one day let go? I am curious as to what led up to their walking on their own. DD is starting to stand on her own if I let go of her. She can only stand for maybe 30 seconds though. She is trying to go from sitting to standing but hasnt been able to do it yet. She is cruising around furniture faster and faster every day. Every child is different, but it just seems like walking would be right around the corner for her. I have tried having her stand and telling her to go to daddy, but she doesnt attempt to walk, she gets down and crawls to him. She does like to walk with me holding her hand though.

Re: If your LO is walking...please come in
DS started to pull up to things and cruise along them first. Then he started being a daredevil by letting go of things while standing & transferring from say couch to couch or couch to coffee table. He then would take a couple steps here & there on his own (we didn't count that as him "officially walking").
Then one day he just decided to Let Go & GO - He took his first big steps (SO said about 8) to SO one night while I was at work. Then the next day DS took me by surprise & took about 7 or 8 steps to me, and since then he just kept going. He officially walked one week before 8mos old.
C wanted to stand from very early on, about 2mos onward. He was able to stand and hold onto things (hands, tables) at about 5mos. Starting around 8mos all he wanted to do was hold onto our hands and go places, more at a running pace than walking (exhausting!); he had no interest in crawling at all. Then at almost 10 mos, he randomly started to focus on crawling and figured that out in about a week and a half; serious cruising began about this time too. A week later, he let go of the ottoman one day and took 3 steps towards me; this was 2wks ago. He still gets too excited and starts trying to run or blow raspberries, so we are falling after about 5-6 independent steps.
I read somewhere (Dr Sears maybe?) that babies need 3 separate things to begin walking--strength, balance and determination. C has had the strength and determination, but balance is taking longer than we thought. It happens when it happens.
All this. It will happen. C was only able to pull up and then cruise, and then he learned to stand without pulling up on anything. He has taken 3 steps at a time starting last Wednesday and he keeps trying (did 8 at my parents Monday, I missed it, DH was there) but stops after a bit because crawling is faster. Mostly, he is just trying a step if he is already standing, but if he is down, he will crawl.

Sounds like your LO is not too far off from walking.
My DD did all of these things, standing, cruising, etc. We did the encouraging "go to daddy" thing and one day she took steps! She walks more and more on her own now. It's kinda funny, she toddels around like a little drunk person
DD started to pull up and cruise at 6 months. She was pulling up on anything and everything at this point.
By 6.5 months she was crawling with tummy off the floor.
Some point between 6.5 and 8 months she started to stand without holding on to anything... And it wasn't just for a few seconds. She could stand forever. Around this time she learned how to stand without holding on to anything.
At 8 months she took her first steps... 3 of them to her daddy... From there she would take up to 6 steps, but never more.
At 10 months she was walking. It was like overnight. She went from a few steps here and there to walking all over the house.
