Homemade deodorant

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to try this, I have everything in my house and I love the smell of coconut oil!

Re: Homemade deodorant

  • i used a very similar recipe for a few weeks and it irritated my underarms because it was kind of gritty. i liked the smell, but i went back to the crystal deodorant because my pits hurt so bad.

I hadn't thought about the grit factor. I use baking soda with my face wash to exfoliate!

  • I've used something very similar for the past year. cornstarch, baking soda, a few drops of essential oil (currently orange), I just got some coconut oil to use with it...rub a little on my skin, then dab on the dry stuff with a cotton ball. The grit wasn't so bad for me (might sting occasionally if I've just shaved too close), and now it doesn't bother me or my skin at all.

Coastal Classics makes something similar...but now I make my own. This is the only thing that leaves me odor free (even in summer), doesn't increase sweating, and won't shirt pits with residues and chemicals. I just had NO luck with the "natural" deos...they made me stink far worse then using nothing at all...and the store stuff and anti-perspirants made me sweat more (yuk!). Plus it's cheap!
