Speaking of kids behaving better for someone else...

DH is out of town again and J is STILL teething (working on tooth #8) so my mom offered to keep him overnight last night to give me a break.  Anyways, he went to sleep at 6:15, slept all night until 6:30 (he's been waking at 5 for me), didn't even wake to eat like he normally does around 10 AND he took 2 1.5 hour naps for her!  Ugh...I mean I'm sooo, so thankful (and lucky!) to have gotten a night to myself but man that makes you feel even more guilty, like I'm doing something wrong!

  • I feel your pain. Riley has alwasy slept and even ate better for others than he will for us. It drives me batty. The silver linning is that it means your mom will be willing to do it more often. Glad you got a night off, I am sure it made you feel like a new woman.

Good to know it's not just my kid!  And yes...a whole new woman today...it's amazing what a little extra sleep can do for you. :)

  • I can not believe how many teeth that boy has!  Don't feel badly- as a teacher I found that my students always behaved better for me than they did for their own parents (as evidenced by their behavior when their parents chaperoned a field trip or came to a holiday party).  You must have seen that with your students too, right?  So it must apply to babies as well.  :)

  • It's so true! When we were visiting my mom last month she insisted on Kyva sleeping in her room with her, which was nice so that we could have a break and sleep in a bit. The latest she has EVER slept in for us was like 9, and that was once and we thought it was a miracle. Usually it's more like 6:30 or 7. One morning with my mom she slept in...until 11:15!! I was like, --> Surprise

  • For a teething machine, you're DS is an awesome sleeper!

If DS woke up at 5AM, but STTN, I'd be thrilled!

  • I think the theory is that they feel safest with parent/mom especially and so they can "let their hair down" and do all the stuff that drives us nuts. When others are around they somehow don't feel as comfortable being "fussy" or 'acting out". It means they are bonded to us and they know that this is the safe place to do all that. That's the theory I like, anyway! Glad you got some rest, I hope it gets better soon.

  • its so normal!!! I found that this would happen just by DH putting LO to sleep at night too. Its crazy but all you can do is be thankful like you are and do not think youre doing something wrong! youre not.
