A friend told me about this when Gideon was born and it's absolutely awesome. They send a book a month and they have not ever doubled a book yet. When we take Gideon to the mail box and show him his book, he claps.

Dolly Parton is a Tennessee girl, so I "think" this is only for TN residents.  We live in Knoxville and are signed up and it is the best thing EVER!  DS loves to read!

I'm not sure about that. ETA: definitely not true, people in MO, NY and other places have gotten them.

I am in NC, and we have been signed up since DD was a month old.  I think the programs are available through state grants, in conjunction with Dolly.  Ours is through our county's partnership for children program. The county beside us does not offer it.  So, I guess each county makes the decision whether or not to participate in the program.
