This week has been incredibly busy, so I was surprised to look back at my pictures and see that I'd made any cute lunches at all! Hopefully things will settle down a bit this week and we'll be back in business this week!
Watermelon, anyone? I bought this plate quite a while ago at our grocery store and it brings a smile to DD's face whenever she sees it (along with matching napkin). Inside the hotdog bun is peanut butter, jelly and banana slices. Simple and easy!
Out of focus! Leftover pork tenderloin, blueberries and pretzels, watermelon, a Babybel cheese and a homemade granola bar. Throw in a few cute picks and you have a giraffe lunch! This is packed in a Sassy baby food container that I found at Target last year but haven't seen it there in a while. The recipe for the granola bars is here (I made these ones peanut butter flavored, with mini Reese's pieces)

Measuring cups, anyone? I had packed all of the components for this lunch for an afternoon at the pool that ended up being cut short by rain. DD wanted the lunch cute-ified after we got home, but I was hungry and impatient so I put each item in a measuring cup (plus a tiny bit of salt in the measuring spoon at the end, for sprinkling on the watermelon) and called it good! Watermelon, store-bought circle sandwich, Babybel cheese, homemade granola bar and salt.
And finally, a fun little food-related activity. Edible peanut butter playdough for DD's "bakery." I found July 4th marshmallows on sale after the holiday, plus a container of sprinkles (and a side of apples and milk). She spent well over an hour on this activity, completely engrossed. Here's the recipe (we did the "winner" recipe, but I bought the stuff to make the runner-up, too, so she can compare.) There's quite a bit of sugar in this, but Mom needed a break and DD didn't actually eat that much.
Have a great week everyone!
Re: *Cute lunch check-in*
Cute! Definitely not as clever as yours, but here are a few of my breakfasts from the past week. Even if I'm not feeling creative, and just make it "pretty" (like the last one), my DD really seems to enjoy it. :-)
I always check for your check ins I love them!
Although I am not doing them yet, I will be when I pack DD's and DS's lunch for MDO this fall!
i'm just a month away from having some lunches to post.
thanks for the granola bar recipe, i will have to try them!
