Glass baby food jars=traces of BPA?

Is this old news? We were looking to buy Earth's Best off of Amazon and a reviewer said there are traces of BPA found in the lid. We googled and found several websites that claimed this as well (the most reputable seemed to be this one: https://guide.thesoftlanding.com/2009/02/02/which-prepared-baby-food-containers-are-bpa-free/). Were you aware of this? Traces may not be a big deal, but why buy it if it's even there?

  • I don't think it ever really touches the food. It's just something that is used for the canning process and I think all jarred baby food contain it.

  • Maybe I just think it's strange that we all go out of the way to make sure there is none is the bottles we use, toys, etc. but it's okay if its around the food we feed our kids. I'm sure it's probably ok since it is so little...but still. Why wouldn't they package it differently?

eh we aren't into it at all. we try to avoid these types of items even for ourself. there was a news report that a family ate fresh and local and it cut the bpa levels in their bodies by 65% and that was enough for me to avoid it.

This. I avoid canned stuff like the plaque and only used jarred marinara sauce. Everything else is fresh or frozen because BPA gives me the heebie jeebies. All of LOs food is homemade or from the BPA-free pouches. BPA is bad news bears.

FTR- for yourself and LO, canned goods, especially tomatoes and other acidic foods, are the worst for BPA. Also, RTF formula comes in cans. Cans are lined with BPA.
