baby food question

I saw the post below about making your own food. I had planned on doing it, but wanted to wait till she was at least eating more than a few spoonfuls. I was just curious if you all are just blending the fruit and veggies alone or with a liquid? I wasn't sure if that made a difference with freezing or not. TIA!

Re: baby food question

  • I don't make all of our food, but I do make peaches and pears.  I bake them and then toss them in the Ninja.  I usually just blend the fruit and then decide based on how it turns out.  Sometimes I add a little of the reserved liquid, sometimes I don't.  You can always add BM or formula when you serve it to thin it out, too.  If you don't know about this site already it is amazing:  wholesomebabyfood.com  GL!

  • I add some of the left over water in things like sweet potato...things that don't seem "wet" enough after they're pureed.  Fruit usually doesn't need anything.  I just wait until after it's all blended and then decide if water or milk needs to be added.

Thanks! That makes sense to add the liquid after it defrosts. :) After buying a bunch of food at Target yesterday I will be making my own... They tried to make it look like it was on sale, but really when you broke it down it was the normal price: .97. Grr..
