4 months of bouncing on an exercise ball all day has done some major damage to my back, and Kaiser doesn't cover chiropractic services (at least, not my rinky-dink school district coverage).
I know a chiropractor personally and when I asked him for his fee schedule out of pocket, he said, "come in and we can work with your budget." But I honestly don't know what to expect to pay for a visit. Less than $100? Several hundred? Seriously, no clue. I know that doctor's office visits are a fortune out of pocket, and I'm worried this would be the same. I want some sort of idea before I go for a first visit.
Anyone know?
Re: How much should I expect to pay out of pocket for chiropractic?
I pay out of pocket for my chiro - his first time appointment which includes a long consult is $100. Subsequent appts are $60.
He's the only one I've been to so I don't know if that's average or not.
I manage a Chiropractic office in Folsom. Our adjustments are $40. The therapies (electric muscle stimulation or traction) are discounted to $5 each. The amount of care that will be needed depends on the person, the trauma, history etc. My office also offers a Wellness Program for those patients who qualify. The initial visit should include a complete exam and any necessary xrays. Not all patients require these. Again it just depends on the person, age, history and trauma if any. These fees will also vary based on geographical area.
Knowing that you have Kaiser...just because you do not have the Chiro rider on your plan, you are still elig for a 25% discount at "contracted" offices. This means any office that contracts with American Specialty Health Plans. This company handles Kaiser's Chiro contracts. The contracted providers are to give you the discount. You can access the list of contracted providers by searching American Specialty Health Plans online.
Hope this helps
