Hi Ladies,
I was just curious on a couple of things...
1. If your water broke in middle of night or in the early am, did you/will you take a shower before heading to hospital?
(For some reason I am petrified of this happening and me not have taken a shower yet that day, but since it is my 2nd delivery I don't want things to move so quickly that I don't make it to the hospital (which is ~ 15 min away) in time. FWIW I was induced with DS#1 and I did my hair, makeup & even painted my toes before going into the hospital at 5am b/c I wanted pictures to be cute - obnoxious I know )
2. Did your DH stay with you in the hospital every night you were there?
(DH is more cranky than DS#1 without sleep and if I don't end up needing a C-sec I was thinking he could sleep at home one of the nights I am in the hospital and be well rested during the day - or I am crazy for thinking this since there will be 2 babies I will have to manage??? We NEVER saw the postpartum nurses with DS#1 so I don't know if it would be too much to ask to have them help me w/ night feedings if DH goes home one of the nights?)
Thanks for the input!

1. If your water broke in middle of night or in the early am, did you/will you take a shower before heading to hospital?
YES!! When I was in the hospital on the mag drip, I wasn't allowed to take a shower and I vowed that I would ALWAYS take a shower before going to the hospital. I personally feel like a different person when I have fresh clean hair and I know I smell good.
2. Did your DH stay with you in the hospital every night you were there?
All except one night when I told him to go home and get some rest.
1. Can't help. I had a scheduled c/s which was AWESOME.
2. Yes, DH stayed with me each night. Our hospital doesn't have a nursery, so once DS was discharged from the NICU (2 days in), it was up to us to take care of him at night. (DD stayed in the NICU until she was discharged from the hospital.) It was really difficult for me to get in and out of the bed quickly after the c/s, so DH needed to help. We also split those night feedings so we could get some sleep. He did go home and shower, etc. (we live about 10 minutes from the hospital).
1) can't help you with this one
2) yes, every night. M was in the NICU and J was in room with me. DH got up and went to everyone of M's feedings which I will love him forever for, while I feed J in our room. Even if both babies were in room w/ me I am pretty sure I would have needed him there to at least hand me a baby as it was hard to get up after the c-section. The nurses at my hospital were great and always willing to help w/ feedings. And we didn't have any children at home so I would think that would change things too. But honestly I can not imagine being there alone.
1 Yes, when I woke up and went to the restroom my water broke and my contractions were worse. I even shaved my legs (I still don't know how I managed that, but I did). This was 3:45am, when I got out of the shower I woke up DH and he started getting around. We had a house full of company that would be coming in a matter of hours (they were already on their 12 hr drive, but had all stopped for sleep) because two days later was my scheduled induction. Dh got some cleaning done and I continued to labor in the living room. Once the contractions were becoming unbearable, we headed to the hospital. We got there right about 5:30 and then had to wait to get into my room. Looking back I would have gone in sooner so that when I was ready for my epi, I could have gotten it right then instead of waiting for over 1hr (waiting to get to my room and blood work to go through first).
2. DH stayed with me every night. After delivering both ways, I was happy dh could help. I couldn't have imagined doing the nights by myself, I had my babies in the nursery every night and they brought them to me for feedings. I didn't have a child at home through.

My water didn't break, but I was wondering what I would do if it did. All of my family said to take a shower before going up since I could be in labor for hours. However, my OB said NO..get up to the hospital right away becuase depending on the babies positioning, etc they need to look at them right away. It didn't happen tho so I didn't need to worry about it!!
DH stayed with me 2 nights and my mom stayed with me the other 3 nights. The reason was because 1. I wanted DH to get as much sleep as possible before we got home with the babies and 2. Because we have 2 big dogs that needed to be let out and watched while we were in the hosp. This worked out great for us!
1. If your water broke in middle of night or in the early am, did you/will you take a shower before heading to hospital?
It broke at 7:45 am w/ DS#1...I had no contractions. I did take a shower.
2. Did your DH stay with you in the hospital every night you were there?
No. Not with 1 and not with multiples. I had the twins in the nursery and they brought them to me for feedings.
1. If your water broke in middle of night or in the early am, did you/will you take a shower before heading to hospital? With DS1, i took a shower and thats when my contractions actually started to get bad. We even picked up a little and took out the trash. With the twins my water didnt break but contractions were bad the day before my scheduled c/s, so we just went in. Didnt even think about taking a shower, actually thought they would send us home.
2. Did your DH stay with you in the hospital every night you were there? Yes, we had someone stay with our DS1 while we were at the hospital. I could not have done it with out him. He also would not have had it any other way.
1. I showered the day I went into labor...I kinda thought I was in labor but wasn't totally sure, so I showered hoping the hot water would make me feel better. I was on strick bedrest at that point so I was only allowed a 5 min shower everyday. I would shave my legs in bed because I couldn't stand the thought of unshaven legs in the delivery room (I now say this was the least of my worries).
2. DH stayed each and everynight... Both of us had a bit of anxiety given the situation.
1) This is embarassing but my water broke at 4 p.m. and I still had not taken a shower yet that day so I definitely took a shower before I went into the hospital. I was on modified bed rest and feeling really crappy that day (probably because I was unknowingly in labor) and just hadn't gotten around to showering yet. I am one of those people who just has to shower every day (allbeit late...) so I not only showered but also blow dried my hair and put on makeup. But, I had to wait for my husband to get home from work to take me to the hospital so I had some time to kill anyway. I was glad I did because I think doing those things kept me calm and kept me from completely freaking out (my water broke unexpectedly at 32 weeks) while I was waiting for my husband.
2) My husband stayed with me every night while I was in the hospital. It was helpful to have him even though the babies weren't in the room with me because he would help me get my pump when I needed to pump during the night etc..
I had scheduled csection bc of pre-E.
Yes, Dh stayed with me every night. His grandma lives very close to hospital so he'd go there daily for a good shower, and sometimes for a nap. The guest beds in my hospital was basically a loveseat sofa bed, which was awesome for DH being 6'5". Otherwise, I would have sent him to grandma's for sleeping.
Since boys were in NICU and not allowed in my room, there was really no need for him there... but glad he was bc my night time pain was horrible! He'd help me a lot with chasing down nurses, walking me to bathroom, helping me shower, etc.
