Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I'm feeling rejected by my DD

She pushes me away when I try to kiss her, but then other times she will give me a kiss or a little cuddle.  She doesn't mind being held, but doesn't really hold close to me.  She would much rather be pointing at everything around her.  In addition, she also enjoys playing by herself.  I'm not sure if this is normal 10 month behavior, but I get really down about it.  I worry that I may have done something wrong.  Does anyone have any insight?

Sorry for all the "shes."

  • CJ is the same way.  She's just very independent and wants to see everything... Mommy lovin's just get in the way.  I accept that that is just part of her personality and I'm here for cuddles when she wants them.

  • DD does this a lot as well. Honestly, I think at this age, they are becoming so much more aware of their surroundings and just want to explore.  DD also plays independently a lot, but I'm okay with it.  I keep a close eye on her, and whenever she is somewhere she shouldn't be, or looks up at me, or is doing something cute, (etc etc), I talk to her and smile, or laugh.

I don't think you've done anything wrong.  I think your DD is just growing and taking everything in around her.  GL!
