Multiples

Intro/nervous and excited

Hi Ladies,

I have been lurking here for a few weeks and just wanted to finally introduce myself.

Last week we went in for an ultrasound and found out we were having twins, today I went in for some pain I was having and found out we were having triplets. One set of twins and one singleton.

I am sure this is more common that I know, but I am a little scared wondering about the next 8 months.

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant! Hope to enjoy my time here and get to know a lot about you ladies as well as being a MOM (do I have that right?)

Re: Intro/nervous and excited

  • Wow! Triplets. We have a few new MoMs with triplets on the way.  Congrats!

  • Congrats to you!  Based on some of your prior posts, it looks like it's been a journey for you to get to this point.  Just take some time and let it sink in....I'm *only* having twins so don't know how to process the idea of trips, but there are a few here who have and can sure help you.  I do assume the emotional roller coaster is a little similar though, and it's certainly normal to be nervous/scared/freaked out.  You'll learn a lot here, and don't hesitate to speak up if you have questions!  Congrats, MoM  :)

  • Sounds like you had two very surprising U/S. The first finding out you were having twins and then the next week finding out it is trips!!!!! Wow, I can't imagine!

    Congrats and welcome!

You just had happen to you what my biggest fear was after they told me I was having twins - finding a third baby!  I'm sure you'll do great though!  There are lots of triplet moms on this board who can help.

  • Congrats and welcome!  Yep, you got the MoM term correct!  Take a while to let the idea settle in, and be prepared to take it easy this pregnancy.

I am assuming you mean that two babies share a placenta and that one has a separate sac and placenta (what you refer to as the 'singleton').  Just as an FYI, the separate sac and placenta doesn't rule out that the "singleton" is from the same egg as the other two.  There is still a small chance that you are having identical triplets.  But the possibility of IDs and a fraternal triplet is pretty exciting too -- both types of twinning in one pregnancy!

  • Congrats and welcome! :)

"Pair and a spare" triplets aren't too uncommon, you're right. But that doesn't make it any less overwhelming!

Love seeing new triplet mamas-to-be on here. :)

  • Oh Gosh! twins to triplets, triplets to quads? *faints!!! I truly hope we stop here, my poor mind can't take it anymore. lol

I am very nervous, I guess mainly becuase I wonder (from all the horror stories you hear) about multiples being born with health issues and very difficult pregnancies. It would be great to hear some positive things from mothers who are going through it. I am a reader and would love any information you ladies can share as I prepare for our triple blessing.

As far as the one sac, two placentas i'm not sure. I think the RE was in such shock he either didn't check or didn't mention it. I should be in to see my high risk OB in the next few weeks and should know more then. (sorry if I don't know all the lingo) lol

Thanks again ladies for the warm welcome, yes it has been a long road to get here and I am ready for the rest of the journey to get our babies home and happy.

Are your boys identical triplets? Can you share with me some of your experiences in pregnancy?

Do you mean me? Because yes, mine are. So all three of mine shared a placenta, and in your case, two will share one, and the other will get his/her own. It's a safer situation than mine was, but I still had no issues with my pregnancy.

Here's a post I made last week, which explains your pregnancy (the middle one.)

  • Thanks again ladies. I was gone for a few days, trying to let things sink in and get adjusted to the fact that I have 3 babies in there. Right now it still feels unreal, I think it will sink in more when we go to the doc on Weds. and find out more about being a mom to triplets and pregnancy.

RIght now I am just trying to get through the nausea and feeling like crap for the most part of the day, after that wears off I think I will be better. Looking forward to being around here, but I must warm you, I am more of a lurker/reader than a poster. I have lurked around the boards for over  ayear and as you see I have very few posts, but I will try and contribute where I can.
