Austin Babies

Thoughts/opinions on these particular daycares?

I went to visit a bunch in the last month and so far these are the front runners for me (based on location and quality of center and hours)

1.  Child's Day

2.  Town & Country Montessori

3.  Children's Center of Austin (Bee Caves)

4.  Martin House

5.  Texas State University Child Development Center

What do you guys think?  Have you heard anything about these places?  Please share!   You can also email me at martinirossijuly5 at gmail dot com.

I did also like St. Luke's but since they only open until 530p, I had to rule them out.  DH needs to be able to make it in from San Marcos and the most realistic time would be around 545p.

  • We toured and loved Child's Day.  I've heard only great things about it.  We ultimately ruled it out because it's just too far for us to drive every day.

I loved Child's Day but they don't do cloth diapers and they only enroll once a year...in August.  That would potentially leave me without a daycare for 5 months.  And its the most expensive.  Its obviously still high on my list because it seems like they are really focused on child development and its close to our house.

  • SIL sends her kids to town & country, and they really like it there.

co-worker has her kid at the martin house and really likes the people there. i was told that one of the women there comes in every saturday evening for drop-in babysitting, which is great when they want to go out downtown and feel comfortable that their daughter already feels familiar with the location and the woman.

  • I worked at the TxState CDC in college.  It's been a few years but unless it's changed a bunch (which I doubt) then I'd LOVE to send my kids there.  We're way too far but I wish we were close enough.  If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to try to answer.  Since it's a teaching center, the kids sometimes have new teachers or interns in the classroom but they had the same main teacher almost all the time.  They are also really good at teaching the kids things, using appropriate discipline/ behavior interventions, self serving at lunch time, etc.
