another c-section question!!!!!

I am four days since my c section and came home from the hospital yesterday. Since coming home home I have some swelling in my feet and one of my ankles. Anyone else have this? I didn't even swell when I was pregnant so this is kind of scary.

Re: another c-section question!!!!!

  • Yup completely normal! I was freaked too because I also had zero swelling during pregnancy then like 4-6 days after my c/s my feet and ankles looked broken they were so swollen. My Dr. said it was fine and it was....it went down eventually obviously!

My last day in the hospital (4 days pp) my feet were HUGE and I was totally freaked out. My doc said it was normal, and it went away in about a week.

I had it really bad.  Walk around (well as much as you can) and my dr told me to rotate/flex my feet.  If you think that it is still going up, I would give my dr a call.

  • I also never had swelling during my pregnancy, but a few days after my c section my feet and ankles swelled up like crazy.  I had my baby boy 3 weeks early due to severe gestational hypertension and swelling is a symptom of that so I went to my Dr. and she ended up admitting me to the hospital for 3 more days because my bp had shot back up really high.  I'm sure that my situation is unique... but I'd still call your OB just to be sure. :)

    Me: 30   DH: 32
    TFAS since May 2013
8/14 - Bloodwork showed heterozygous MTHFR gene mutation and elevated AMH (but no cysts)
9/14 - HSG, Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy showed tubes clear, but found and removed Endometriosis, scar tissue and 2 small benign masses on my tubes.
11/14 - Daily ultrasounds confirmed that my follicles are not releasing the egg and every other day blood draws showed very low progesterone... DH's SA was near perfect
12/14 - moving onto meds!!! Hold up!!!  Surprise BFP after only taking the progesterone!  Now what do I do with all of the other meds we already paid for?!  Due at the end of August 2015 Beta#1- 4434 @ 22DPO  Beta#2 - 7335 @ 25DPO Beta #3 - 14429  @ 28DPO
  • My doctor recommended soaking my feet and ankles in cold water for 15 minute stretches to bring down the swelling. It does help some, as does rotating your feet regularly and keeping them elevated. If you have a red, hot spot on either leg, call your doc right away. That's a warning sign of a blood clot.
