Contractions are 3 mins apart but...

So went to L&D because my contractions are 3 mins apart. But they only last 20 secs instead of 60. So I'm home again. Still contracting. Ugh. Lol.

Re: Contractions are 3 mins apart but...

  • Mine were like this last night, for about 45 minutes, they woke me up and were painful.  But they started to go ten minutes apart to non existent after about an hour, so I did not go in.  Timing them is tough, but I dont want to go in and get sent home since I have a 2 year old to worry about this time.  At least our bodies are preparing for LO to arrive, that is how I look at all these uncomfortable pains...

Mine have been 3 mins apart for the last 3 hours. And I'm still at 1&1/2 centimeters from when I got checked last Tuesday. But like you said. At least we're heading in the right direction. I can't wait to meet my LO.

  • I feel your pain. With my DD I was having contractions 2 mins apart for 36 hours before I finally went into labor and was able to stay at the hospital.  They weren't dilating me at first so I was sent home from the hospital when I went in for them the first time.

  • I must have had a lenient doctor. With my last two, I was having what felt like BHS. They were 5 minutes apart...20-30 seconds long....and regular. After 2-3 hours like that, he augmented them. Not extremely aggressive (1 drop of pitocin per hour). Especially since my cervix was thinning and I was (slowly) dilating.

My doc now would not send me home at every 3 minutes. Especially since there'd be a good chance I'd just have to come back.

  • I have been having contractions 3-5 minutes apart for a month now. I am only 3 cm dilated and not progressing so the doc won't keep me in the hospital. I am exhausted from the pain, but my baby is healthy so thats all that matters to me! I do wish the doc would help me out a bit, maybe at my appointment on Friday.
