This is kind of an extension of a thread that I posted late last night. I thought that BG 3.0 stuffable AIO's would be good for overnight because I could add a doubler, hence the opening in the back. I was told though that the AIO's aren't actually that stuffable so I should re-think pockets for night time.
How many soakers can I actually stuff in a pocket? I guess I just don't get how the AIO isn't as stuffable. Any help??
TIA!!!
Re: Aren't AIO's stuffable?
AIOs and pockets are 2 different things. AIOs don't have a pocket to stuff; pocket diapers do. BG3.0s, as far as I know, are pockets.
You can stuff as many layers as you want, but each one adds bulk and increases the chance of leg gaps that can lead to leaks. I triple-fold a long hemp insert and wrap it in a smallish prefold sometimes for DD. No problems yet.
The BG 3.0 AIOs have a pocket behind the sewn-in microfiber insert, so they would be "stuffable." But a lot of AIOs don't have that pocket (like a BG Elemental) and any added absorbency would have to be laid on top of the AIO.
I think the reason someone may have told you that the AIO isn't stuffable is because the large microfiber takes up a lot of space, so you would probably only be able to fit one additional layer in. With a pocket we can fit two layers of hemp, then we put the newborn microfiber (doubler) on top to quickly absorb. HTH
Yes, I'm referring to the BG 3.0 with a pocket for stuffing. I guess I just don't get it still. If I put a prefold in the pocket, won't that AIO be pretty absorbent for a night time diaper?
It probably would be pretty absorbent, but my point was that you may not be able to fit it with the microfiber already sewn in. Pockets can be over-stuffed, then the elastic gapes at the legs, meaning the diaper leaks. Obviously, you should try and if it works, then fantastic! Cloth diapering is a trial and error process. What works for my baby may not work for yours.
