So I read yesterday on one of the boards that someone was switching to warm water instead of formula (or BM) when baby woke in the middle of the night. So as usual DS woke up at about 11 last night, I tried to let him just fall back asleep on his own but no luck. So I got him a bottle but only put 4 oz of warm water in it. And he drank it and went back to bed.
Now, I don't REALLY understand this yet, cause the point is to get him back to STTN but I'm still feeding him something.. BUT I'm gonna go with it for a few nights and hope for a miracle!

A woman on here said that after 4-5 nights of doing this her daughter stopped waking up, because she was doing it out of habit. I have no doubt DS is just doing it out of habit.. so I'm trying it!
That was my orginal thread. You will have to let me know how the water works out for you. I just completed night 2 of CIO with DS. Night 1 was well...not fun, but he managed to self sooth himself back to sleep. Last night he didn't wake up at all till 5:30am where I did get up and get him a bottle (we put him down at 7pm), and he went right back to sleep till 7:30am...it was WONDERFUL!! I'm hoping it was not a one time fluke and DS will start STTN like he did last night.
We can't seem to CIO with DS, he gets himself so worked up that then I need to go in and calm him down, which normally ends with a bottle anyways. So I'm really hoping the little bits of water will train him to not wake up at all until morning!
What got DD to stop waking up during the night from habit was this. If he's been waking at 11:00, then go into the room at 10:00 or 10:30 and rouse him a bit. Uncover him, and touch him etc. Get him out of his deep sleep but don't wake him all the way up. Then leave the room. 3 nights in row should do it! My DD has slept through the night since!
