Early Bird Twatwaffle Tuesday Nominations

https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/55592005.aspx

Firstly, I nominate maruun-whatever for not giving two shits about her kid's safety and going around "BUT IT'S NOT THE LAW SO I DO WHATEVA I WANT!!1!"

Secondly, I nominate aruiz for wishing OP's baby death AND justifying it.

After reading that I feel like I have to take a shower.  Disgusting.

however long the night, dawn will break.

i feel absolutely sick to my stomach after reading that post. i mean, i'm overly emotional sometimes lol, but really - i'm legitimately worried about her son. :(

i wish i had her name so i could call her states child protective services.

  • People should have to pass a test to become parents.  What an idiot!

You have no idea how badly I wanted to call her out on that.  But I didn't want to sound like the grammar police.  I was also too wrapped up into the issues at hand!

Really?  Do you honestly think this call would amount to anything and do you really believe not placing a child rear facing in the car warrants a call to cps.  That is another issue with TB...everyone wants to call cps.  FFS.  I am pretty adamant about car seat safety.  I have my seats checked and NEVER take them out.  I am strict about the strap placement and such, but I still don't think this warrants a cps call!

sorry you disagree, but yeah i do feel that way. i'm a social worker, and i see a lot of crap. i work closely with my states cps. and if a mother who is knowingly disregarding her child's safety it's neglect. and she is breaking the law. in my state, cps would be there within 24 hours and at least investigate. if she mentions this to someone, i hope they call. and if she gets pulled over and has this child in a FF carseat, i would place bets that the police would call.

I taught inner city for 9 years.  I made so many of those phone calls to our dcyf and I can probably count on two hands how many were investigated.  We had city police officers patrolling our pick up and drop off.  There were so many babies sitting in the car without carseats at all.  I would venture to say it depends on the area, case loads, and what is worth it to them at that time.  I am glad to hear that your local agency would act on this.  I am doubtful there are many out there that would.

I have to say, most of the opinions that the bump as a whole have, suck. Like, they're all uppity and not how people are in real life. But I was clutching my pearls at that thread...I couldn't imagine how I would feel if my kids neck snapped because I had a wreck and didn't follow safety advice in a moving metal machine that goes 70mph on an average. No way.

im sure it totally depends on the area. i live in a pretty suburban area. it's populated but not out of control. they have "high" caseloads but i know it is nothing compared to inner-city. they have the man-power and time to investigate these things. i would say on most of the calls i make they send someone within 24 hours - and not all of them warrant a "24 hour" visit - but being that its coming from another gov't agency, they know that we don't make calls lightly, we know the person/family/situation well, and we aren't some PO'ed baby daddy new girlfriend, etc. lol. they would not remove the child - but would probably set up some parenting skills classes and child safety classes for sure. i'm sure if i lived/worked in some of the shatty inner-city areas within the state - they would laugh if i called with this - so i see your point. i just cannot tolerate mothers who blatantly ignore their child's safety. it makes me ill. this woman made me so angry!

could not agree more. my jaw was on the keyboard. i literally felt sick at the thought of that woman getting in an accident with her son in a FF carseat and what the result could be.

Hear, Hear! I heartily agree on the nominations. I'm really hoping the OP was MUD, but even so, it's sick and dirty MUD. Aruiz's comments are also nasty and inappropriate. I don't care what kind of a twat a mom is, it is NEVER okay to wish for someone's baby to die.

The silver lining in this debacle, though, is that I learned something! I am a rule-follower ("rules is rules, y'all") so we were going to go by the RF until 2 anyway, but I did not know about the internal decapitation. I didn't watch the videos, I don't even want to think about it, or how many children suffered that fate for them to change their recommendations in the first place.

Any mom who watches those videos/learns that information and then decides to do what she pleases isn't ignorant, she's just plain maliciously stupid.

JosiePosy's comment telling the OP to just drive in reverse for the next six months gets a big thumbs up. The rest of that thread makes me absolutely sick. Assh*les like the OP and aruiz are making me really tired of TB.
