Front teeth loose

So, we just got back from our annual summer vacation and on the FIRST DAY, DD falls and (for the second time in her short 3 year life) hits her mouth.  Her bottom lip was bloodied and her right front tooth is loose.  At 18 months, she fell and slightly chipped the front left tooth.

My high school friend is her dentist and she told me this morning that her front teeth are very loose and they'll likely fall out before she reaches 5.  "Not today or tomorrow but they will fall out." is how she said it.  She showed me the X-rays she took and the nerves are gone--I wasn't sure what I was looking at--they looked fine to me but she's the expert so I'm not gonna debate that. LOL  She advised that we should let them fall out and not worry about putting two fake front teeth since her permanent ones are gonna fill in when it's time.

While it wasn't the way we planned to start our vacation or the good news we'd expected to receive at the dentist, we're happy our little girl is 100% OK.  She's not the least bit worried about missing teeth...and now that she's not concerned, neither am I.  :)

Re: Front teeth loose

  • I'm glad she's doing okay. I know how you must be feeling. My DD was born with teeth and the pedi had told me to expect them to fall out the first week. They never did. But I knew we'd have to get them pulled eventually. It finally happened 2 days after her 3rd birthday. :( she had both bottom center teeth pulled. Her dentist said not to worry, the adult teeth will come in eventually.......    Looks cute in pics!! :)

  • Same thing her dentist said; waiting for the permanent ones to fill in when it's time.  These kids, I promise!  They most definitely know how to give life some "edge".  :)
