After researching midwife vs. OB, and weighing all of my options, we found our midwives last week and they are WONDERFUL. And, as a bonus, I told my mother about our plan for a home birth and she didn't freak out on me at all.
Surprisingly, she thought it was cool and told me she'd had an OB hospital birth with me, but a midwife hospital birth with my sister, and that the midwife experience was far better and more relaxing. The things you learn when you start talking to your mom about this stuff!
Guess the only point of this post is to say hi, officially, and I will be around learning more from you all in the coming months.
Re: Found our midwives and feeling great!
Yeah!! I interviewed a couple of midwives before I even got pregnant, so when I got the positive result, I knew who to call.
With my first birth, I felt rushed during my 15 minute appointments and left with more questions than I had come in with. My midwife appointments last an hour and it's SO relaxing. SO happy your mom is on board! My mom looked into homebirths with all 3 of us, but couldn't find one in rural Oklahoma in the 70's and 80's.
I'm so glad you found your midwife. It's a GREAT feeling.
Congrats!
