Clicky Poll: If you plan to try to "self induce"

I'm just curious when you'll start IF you plan on doing this.

This is a post and run, sorry.

My doctor likes to induce at 41 weeks. I would really like to avoid deciding to induce or not, so at 40 weeks I will be trying some things, but nothing crazy.

I think some things I would maybe start doing a little sooner than others, like getting a little more frequent bootie or something, but the castro oil and nipple stimulation I probably won't start trying until closer to D-Day.

since my dr and i have already discussed a possible induction at 39 weeks, I already have the calendar marked for week 37.  I'll also be asking him to strip membranes probably by week 38.  But, I know that none of it works if my body isn't ready.

Hate to say it but if your body isnt ready self induction wont work. However fun to try, I wouldnt take much of it to heart though. My OB will induce in week 39 but I will be trying at week 37 to get LO out if he hasnt come yet.. I make big babies and I really want to avoid a 10+ lb child.. judge if you will.

I will be induced no later than 39 weeks due to GD, so depending on how things go, I may try a few things at 38 weeks.

I did not pick one because I think it will depend on if any progress is being made down there and when.

I'm up for trying anything (except castor oil) once I hit 40 weeks.  I really do not want to be induced.

My midwives said we'll have to start talking about induction at 42 weeks. so if i get to 41 i'll start testing some things.

I think I'll start being creative with getting things going at 39 weeks.  If it does work it'll probably take a few days to get going anyways.  We all carry late in my family, so any encouragement to move things along.  Plus eggplant parm and more sex will just make me happy.

Our midwives have patients start EPO at 37 weeks twice a day. Also, I start 2x/week acupuncture appts at 38 weeks, and will be having weekly chiro appointments starting at 36 weeks.

Everything else, 38 or 39 weeks.  Leaning more toward 39 since LO won't be evicted until 42 if he/she continues to do well (and none of the methods will work unless my body is ready anyway) and I have a TON to do at work before going on leave!

I don't see myself trying anything... except taking walks and that sort of thing.

Same here, although castor oil is a definite NO for me :)

Tried every self-induction strategy known to womankind my first time around and nothing worked.  Had her at 42 weeks less a day.  My second came two weeks early and I didn't try anything.  I think I'll just let nature take its course this time around.  He'll be ready to come out when he's ready.

Im an "other," I guess. I'll start using EPO around 38 weeks, but not necessarily as an induction method, but rather to soften my perineum. My old MW suggested this to help decrease the likelihood of re-tearing. I'll probably start (or try, at least!) to walk more around that time, just to get into the habit and to hopefully help with labor.

As far as the far-fetched methods for self induction, those will wait until 40-41 weeks. And I'm NOT drinking castor oil. No way.

I will do most anything to avoid another induction. Things that did not work for me the 1st time: RRL tea...4-5cups a day from 38 weeks, yoga, pressure point work, jumping jacks(NOT kidding!), prayer, spicy food. This time DH is home, so I will be using his semen to help my cervix get its' butt in gear. And I'll ask my midwife for anything she recommends. Probably will nipple stim b/c I can easily do that myself.
