...and this is how crazy I am getting...

I rarely take my dogs to the dog park because I am a nervous wreck the whole time.  A long time ago, I took them to the park and a woman brought a tiny Dachshund puppy (that frankly looked more like a weird ferret) and it was making these bizarre noises.  Suddenly, several of the dogs at the park descended on this puppy and my dog rather casually jogged over and stuck his head in the pile.  Once the owners had broken it up, the puppy was completely unharmed, but my dog just happened to be the last out the of the pile.  Well, the woman called the police on my dog and I had to take him to the vet twice for "rabies observation" (for over $200) to prove that he didn't have it, even though I have all of his regular vaccination records (ugh... kinda makes you wonder why we keep rabies tags...)  Anyway, the woman never ended up taking her dog to the vet and my dog was the only one who got in trouble while all the other dog owners just ran to their cars. 

Now that my dog has a record, I am convinced that if there is another incident, he will have to be put down or something.  I have always been crazy about my pets, but IF has made me go completely insane and project all of my "baby" instincts onto these dogs. 

This weekend, my family basically forced me to go to the dog park and I was literally so nervous that I had a lump in my throat and almost felt like crying.  That is how crazy I am getting.  I wasn't nervous about my dogs getting hurt, but I am just so paranoid about them getting in trouble, even though they are so friendly and literally never hurt anyone, even the one time that they got in trouble. 

My brain is totally fried...  I swear, I used to be so carefree and IF is causing me to become everything I never wanted to be...

I'm sorry hon I would probably be a little leery too after what happened. It sucks how IF makes us stress and worry about things that other people wouldn't think twice about. I'm very protective of my furbaby too and cry at the thought of something happening to him.

Is there another area you could take your dog to play? Maybe going somewhere else would help make you feel more at ease of taking your dog out around other dogs.

I would be a little leery too -- I am not a fan of dog parks either - my one dog doesnt like others smelling her because of her back legs and the other doesnt really care and will play but I get so nervous when they start growling at each other so we stopped taking them or DH takes them by himself.

But, I honestly dont think you have anything to worry about as far as them taking your dog or anything...you are current on your vaccines. It happened to us when one of our dogs bit my neighbor -- ( we no longer have him and he was trained to be a K9 where DH works because he was that crazy) but we had to keep him quarantined for 10 days because of this even though he had his shots.
