My favorite Aunt is named Alice and I have always loved Alice in Wonderland. The ONLY reason I won't use it is because cousin used Allison as a middle name for her baby to honor my Aunt and I don't want to take anything away from her.
For me it would entirely depend upon the middle and last names, because they're equally lovely in their own ways. Alice is beautiful in the way that a simple white dress is beautiful. Elise is a bit more romantic/European sounding.
I prefer Alice, but then my favorite book as a child was Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Either name could suit any kind of woman, I think, and they're both beautiful.
Re: Alice Vs Elise
Alice-old fashioned and lovely. I picture a sweet little blond girl.
Elise- eh does nothing for me.
Elise is ok, but I love Alice. It might be because I'm a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland.
We would consider using Alice if we have a daughter, but my H has an Aunt Alice and he doesn't want to name after his relatives.
