I know nobody "owns" a name. but I would rather avoid the same name as someone I know. Let's face it, there are more than 5 names out there.
We like Arianna. (although my husband is still getting used to it)
I have a coworker that is returning a month before I leave for the baby and her baby's name is Aria. (we will probably end up working together after I return from maternity leave) now I just found out this morning that my bff's sister (who I see every couple months with her sister) named her baby Eliana.
Aria and Eliana ... and we want to go with Arianna.
too similar.

Re: names and those of friends babies
sorry - question. am I overthinking this?
is this the same as calling my baby June when you name yours Jenn?
I don't think they're too similar, especially since one is a co-workers child, and the other is a sibling of your friend. If it was your siblings' child then maybe it would require some additional thought (though I still think they're different enough), but in this case I really wouldn't worry about it.
Arianna is lovely!

You're overthinking it, use the name you love. BTW, one of my favorite people is named Arianna!
1. These people are not that close to you (SIL, Brother, Cousin) so it wouldn't even matter if it was the same name
2. Arianna is so pretty!
okay, calmed down.
I wont bring it up to my H who is not that sure of Arianna anyway!!
I also like Roya, but he doesnt like that because we know someone with that name. A friend of his brothers that nobody has seen or heard from in 4 yrs that lives on the opposite coast.
That wouldn't bother me at all, especially since the two babies are in completely different circles (I assume). We are dead set on our name and if one of my friends selected it for their child before I give birth we would still stick with it. The names do sound similar but aren't alike in my mind.
I love Arianna!
Yep, definitely overthinking it.
I like both names - Arianna and Roya - and think that either one would be lovely.
I also wanted to add that I think Arianna is beautiful name.
I think you're over thinking it. Even if they sound similar, they are different names.
I have a niece named Ariana, BTW.

I think that you are over thinking it.
I loved the name Aria, and then the hotel was built in Vegas so SO said that is all he can think of when he hears "Aria"...haha
Ariana is a cute name!
Yes to both questions. My coworker, who I absolutely can not stand AT.ALL. just had a baby boy this year. We are considering naming our son the same thing. I have always loved the name, I am not going to work with her forever and I seriously doubt our kids will be hanging out.
