There are LOTS of reports about babies getting flat spots from the Rock n Play sleeper. Just read the reviews on Amazon and there are LOTS of real stories. Seems ok for napping but for overnight sleep I would be very concerned.
I was going to get one until I started reading more about it.

Re: PSA; Rock N Play Sleeper
I've read those reviews too. I'm not planning on getting one, but just wondering... babies are supposed to sleep on their back, so wouldn't they be prone to getting the same flat spot? Does their head lay different when they are flat? Just curious.
I have a flat spot on my head and I was put on my stomach to sleep. Sometimes I think it's just how the skull grows.
Babies are going to get flat spots on their head if they are sleeping ANYWHERE for too long (i.e bouncy seat, crib, pack n play, bassient, etc....)
I personally don't believe this has ANYTHING to do with the actual seat so I would take those reviews with a grain of salt---
As a mom to 3 kids just make sure that you're trying to rotate their heads so they're not always sleeping on the same side (thus getting a flat spot) and they're getting plenty of time being held (not an issue for most).....
someone brought this up in a previous post about the rock n play, but just saw one in person the other day and it's totally true. the sleeper has a huge slit in the cover at the end where the head goes that would allow you to slip a body positioning pillow (like the boppy noggin headrest) in, under the baby. I would think that this would take care of any issues that people are having with head/neck problems.
I have read all of the reviews and I still plan on getting one. We plan on having the baby in the crib at night when he/she comes home, but during the day we were thinking it would be nice to have the rock n play in the living room for the baby to nap. We live in a tiny apartment and there is no room for a pack n play or anything larger than the rock n play. It's especially nice because it folds up.
This exactly. I'm getting the noggin nest. And I'm not going to leave her in it 24/7...
Sometimes it is all but impossible to avoid. Both DS's got flat spots on their heads as babies. DS1 REFUSED to sleep in any position but flat on his back, looking straight up with his hands behind his head, until he was 12 months old. He started sleeping 12 hours straight at 3 months, so that was a LOT of time on his back. I tried propping him on sides a little bit (with peds ok) and he always came out of it . With DS2, I wore him in a sling constantly, very little time in his carseat/stroller, I slinged him when possible, a LOT of supervised tummy time through out the day while on the floor playing with DS1, propped him as well....guess what? happened again. But I def. won't be using the Rock and Play, I will loose my mind worrying about the head after all I've done!!!
