Food Allergy

Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis

My daughter was diagnosed Failure to thrive at 9 months old and we started seeing a GI to rule out any GI issues.  At one year we were told she was not allergic to dairy and to start giving her dairy which she then had what everyone thought was an allergic reaction so the GI diagnosed her with Milk Protein Allergy.  Well, last week we took her to an allergist and he retested her and diagnosed her with FPIES rather than the allergy.

I will still be hanging out with you ladies as it is being treated like an allergy as we have to continue to avoid any dairy until she grows out of it.  The allergist will do a new challenge in 18 months.  She will be 18 months next week and is still considered Failure to thrive.

I appreciate this board and especially love the recipe posts.

thanks everyone.

Re: Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis

  • My daughter Adelaide :-) was diagnosed with FPIES at 6 months. I am so nervous to give her any new foods. She is EBF so I have no idea is she is allergic to milk/soy yet. So far her triggers have been avacado, peas, and sweet potatoes. This is a stuggle we are going to have to work our way through, but I am hoping we can out grow it.
