Talk to me about canvas prints

I want to order some prints from our awesome photo shoot with Libby.  Aside from my complete inability to choose between them (because they're all so amazing), I'm trying to decide on what sizes to print and where to print them from.  I'm thinking I want 3 16x20 canvases to hang in a row on a wall in our living room, but I'm open to other ideas.  Ignore the birthday banner.  It will obviously be coming down.  :)  If you want to use it as a size reference though, each circle is 6 inches.

I am probably going to have to print them in stages, but I'd like to have a plan to work from.

I looked at mpix, but I would only be able to order one for now.  I would probably be able to order the other 2 after Christmas.  I also looked at Canvas on Demand and they are basically the same price, but I know that they periodically have groupons so I could probably order 2 or 3 when they have another deal.

Does anyone have experience ordering from either of these 2 places?  I do not want to get the cheaper ones and then be hugely disappointed in the print quality/ color.  On the other hand, I would rather have more pictures if the quality is comparable.

Re: Talk to me about canvas prints

  • we have ordered from canvas on demand and it the quality was great and the customer service was awesome. they held off on making my order for one day, as they wanted to call me on monday morning to tell me that they'd like to make the canvas a few inches bigger b/c of the layout of the image. they also told me how cute they thought ruby was :) i thought that was so nice, and the canvas really does look great.

we used the groupon for it and ive never seen a better deal out there.

  • I've ordered several (for myself and as gifts) from canvas on demand using the groupon deal(s) and love them. Customer service has been great there as well. Eta: I had the same experience as boxer- they made the canvas even bigger (at no charge) to better fit the pic.
  • There are a few place the photography board usually recommends, Bayphoto, WHCC, and Mpix.  I've ordered prints from Mpix and have been happy.  Recently I was thinking about doing an album through bayphoto.

Canvas on Demand - can't beat the Groupon deals at $45 for a 16x20" - and ditto others, excellent customer service and the products are great quality.

  • Canvas on demand does a great job. I got mine there with a groupon. It wa cheaper than even using my pro accounts. I did not like that they emailed me they were changing the sizes since I had a specific layout planned. I just called and they changed it back to my original sizes. You can see a pic here. https://www.bloomaustin.com/blog/?p=1782. That is two 16x20 with a 20x24 in the middle Hope that helps!
  • Canvas On Demand is awesome and they have groupons all the time for 16x20. Bookmark grouponroundup.com and you can prob find them sooner in different cities/states. I believe that when you buy the groupon, too, it acts more like a gift cert. for a certain amount that you can redeem for, so while they say it's 16x20, you can upsize and pay for the difference.

If it were me and I could afford it, I'd go for the dramatic HUGE canvas, but yeah that can be pricey. Otherwise, I'd do three smaller ones, but in that space vertical would seem to be better, and that might be harder (or make it easier) to choose.

  • Thanks so much guys!  That really helps.  Now I just need to stalk the groupons.  :)
