kinda bummed about baby shower

not mine.  We are going to one here in a little while.  Not usually bummed about these things because I loooooove baby showers.  Bummed about this one b/c its for a girl here who hasn't met any of other girls yet and she's young and its her first baby (and here's the kicker) and DH JUST told me about it so I didn't have time to put a thoughtful gift together for her shower!  Literally cute stuff I found quickly at walmart. 

BUT, when my mom brings me my sewing machine I will make her some pink gingham fabric beach balls and possible a collage of her daughter's name.  I just feel bad now that I have to give her a not very thoughtful gift

What you're doing is super sweet.  Might not be what you want ideally, but totally sweet.  The post shower present is such a cool idea!

aside from your bought gift, maybe you could give her a card with your IOU for the stuff you're making... both to let her know that you mean to be more personal, and as a chance for her to voice any taste preferences... hope she takes it as a sign you'd like to get to know her better!
