Interesting article. No, I'm not nor would I ever have a home birth, but an interesting read nonetheless.

Re: Home birth on the rise by 20%

  • i know lots of people who have had successful home births (including SIL and my cousin)...it's just not for me. are any ladies on the board doing home births, I wonder?

for us, the negatives/risks didn't outweigh the positives/benefits of it. we're going with what is, to us, a "happy medium" - a natural birth in a birth center which is attached to a hospital. to each his own! :)

  • I am not having a home birth either, but the more I read the more safe I think they are. I think it's  really awesome that women have the choice to do this.

  • If all goes well this time and I'm not high risk next time either, we very well might try a home birth.  It's good to see the stigma going away.

  • We wanted to but we're too far away from the hospital and my family had major issues with it.  So we compromised and are going with a hospital that allows midwives to deliver (one of the few in Colorado - in Boulder - it's awesome they're so progressive there).
