Natural Birth

holy cow

So I know I don't post all that much here but I lurk every day and I am SO GLAD this board exists!

I was just on my month board and literally every other post is about when people are being induced. And all the ones who are 40 weeks and 1 day "venting" about not wanting to still have an inside baby and being "late."

Umm, hello? I thought post-date was 42 weeks. I know I am considered lucky to have had DD almost two weeks early, but honestly, I will be perfectly fine waiting for this baby to come out on her own, when she is ready, even if I am 40 weeks and 1 day (bite your tounge!!).

So, just wanted to say, yay for this board being a non-pro-induction safe haven.

  • I know what you mean.  This board is currently my safe haven!  It is so frustrating to read about inductions being done without medical reason just b/c someone is past their due date.

  • I really want to avoid being induced and when I went to my doctor's appointment today he said they won't let me go more than 7 days past my due date. I am uncomfortable with my doctor convincing me to be induced just because my due date has come and gone. Due dates aren't exact and like you said, you're not really "late" until after 42 weeks.

Has anyone else had their doc tell them they have to be induced just because they're past their due date?

  • you must be on the July board, me too. Although I am super ready to have this little one (maybe because it's my first) i am so okay with waiting until 42 weeks! I DO NOT want to be induced!!!! I do like this board for the natural mamas on here not rushing things :)

Unless your doctor said he is going to force you to the hospital and tie you down for induction...I would try discussing it with him again.
Remind him you've been healthy and everything has been good up to this point. Maybe you can just keep stalling..."Can't we just wait ONE more day?"

Hoping you can have the baby before that time so you don't have to have a fight with your OB :)

  • catie333>> I love your pic, it is too cute.

OP>>I feel you! When people ask me all the million questions you get asked b/c you are preggers, the one that I dread is the "So you are getting the drugs right?" (or any version of that question) When I tell the asker that, "no, I want to do this as natural as possible" they act like I am in a cult or something just because of this personal and private decision! But the worst ones are the other pregnant women who sneer and say, "well I don't have to prove that I am a real woman, so I'll take the drugs." So now I am not a real woman just because I want to experience every aspect of my child's birth? Women have been doing this thing called birth for a pretty long time now, and most of those was without an epidural. Were they not real women? Sheesh....
