NBR Clicky: attending a wedding?

Situation:  Received an invitation for a wedding of a couple I don't know.  I know the bride's parents.  It feels odd to me.  Would you attend?

I voted no but that's because I don't like weddings in general.  However, I've received a couple of invitations like this and they were usually because I was a work friend of the parents. 

My husband's family also did this to our wedding. They invited a ton of people who were their friends but whom neither DH nor I had ever met. I thought it was kind of show-offy on MIL's part.

If I wasn't going to know anyone other than the parents, then no. If a bunch of my friends were going, then we'd go and have fun.
